Frankly Scarlett

Consummate tale of selfish pride,
Illustrious conflict between two sides.
Vivien brought Scarlett O'Hara to life,
Insane jealousy caused Melanie strife.
Lusted for Ashley Wilkes real bad.

Wanted things she could not have.
Architectural plantation gems,
Ravaged by General Sherman's men.

Emancipation yet proclaimed,
Reconstruction's post-war pain.
Atlanta's heart set afire,

Confederates lost that burning desire.
Laden with coquettish scorn,
Aristocratic southern charm.
Scarlett fought for Tara's sake,
Shunned advances Butler would make.
Iconic Gable, Leigh embrace,
Catatonic Scarlett face.

Frankly Rhett didn't give a damn,
In the end, proved the better man.
Left Scarlett to fend another day,
Made "Fiddle Dee Dee" quote cliche.

The Man Of A Thousand Voices

Thank you Mel for giving us,
A thousand fond memories.
You were so many voices,
On all our early TVs.

Mr. Spacely from The Jetsons,
Barney Rubble to name a few.
Captain Caveman, Heathcliff, Tom Cat,
Woody Woodpecker, too.

Of all the toons that you crooned,
The one's we most adored.
Were all those famous LooneyToons,
We watched on Saturday morn.

Shhh...Be Berwy, Berwy Quiet,
The name is Elma Fudd
I'm auways hunting Wabbits.
Be quiet if you could.

Therwe pesky wittle queatures,
But one espeshewy.
Dat 'ole Bugs Bunny Wabbit,
Is berwy rascawy,

Munchin' on his cawots,
Aweways wants to pway.
Evwy time I twy to shoot him,
He seems to swip away.

I know I'w get him dis time,
Just you wait a see.
Shhh...Be Berwy Quiet,
Wabbits are my speshwulty.

Well sufffferin, succatash,
As Sylvester cat would say,
He's always prowlin somewhere,
Beneath Tweety Bird's cage.

Tweety on the other hand,
Likes to talk and swing.
He never seems too concerned,
Loves everyone and thing.

God bless Tweety's Granny,
With her trusted broom.
It helps and comes in handy,
When Sylvester's in the room.

Mee Meep, there goes The Road Runner,
With the coyote after him,
It's old Wiley Coyote,
And another Acme mayhem.

Speedy Gonzales, amazed all of us,
With his bursts and grace.
I always wondered who would win,
If he and Road Runner raced.

Fog Horn Leg Horn, that big blow hard,
Sounded like W.C. Fields.
You'd think a rooster ruling a barnyard.
Was such a great big deal.

Daffy Duck seemed out of luck,
With Bugs Bunny around.
If not for Bugs, Daffy might wear,
The WB Cartoon crown.

Yosemite Sam was a wanted man,
With mustache, guns and hat.
He never caught that dang varment,
Ended up on truck mud flaps.

Now Porky Pig, you gotta love him,
He's my favorite Loon.
I love the classic way he ends,
Each LooneyTune cartoon.

Bda, bda, bda,..that's all Folks.

Thanks Mr. Blanc.

De Captain

Oh Derek, De Captain, what a legacy you'll leave;
You've been a force, a mighty work horse, since you entered the league.
As the end draws near to your storied career, one that's now in year 16.
Relish the milestones you've achieved, and glorious cheers you've received.
Oh Derek, Our Captain, it's hard to believe,
It's been this long, oh how could it be.
One day the world will look back and agree,
It was how you played the game.

Oh Derek, De Captain, you've earned your degree;
You've lived a life of luxury, royalty, what you yearned to be.
You're now the who many long to be, a prodigy, a pedigree.
Some may call it destiny, that you're a New York Yankee.
Oh Derek, Our Captain, you're many a fave,
Fans will recount the years you played,
No one will question what you gave,
Your dedication, passion or name.

Oh Derek, Oh Captain, this may or may not be it.
Take a few moments and sit. Relax and enjoy it a bit.
No one will question your intensity, passion, emotion or grit.
What fans may remember most, is your historic three thousandth hit.
Oh Derek, Oh Captain, how can it be?
There's never be another in your company.
You're now in the exclusive club of three.
The very first New York Yankee.

Oh Derek, Team Captain, careful, don't bend;
You're the team leader, comrade and friend. Keep on pushing as hard as you can.
Baseball's been played since most don't know when. Careers eventually end.
Nobody plays the game forever, but in spirit, legacies can.
Oh Derek, Oh Captain, keep living your dream.
Future generations will remember your name.
You've made your mark in America's game.
You're destined for The Hall of Fame.

Elliot Garfield Where You Been?

American Graffiti first big film,
Close encounter with alien.
Always good for laughter and thrills,
Did well down in Beverly Hills,
Early graduate with Hoffman and Ross,
Made Simon's Yonkers seem less lost.
Young Baby Face in Dillinger,
American President's Senator.
What about Bob's psychiatrist,
A music teacher with own Opus.
Richard the third gimped gay with lisp,
Dickens Fagin in Oliver Twist.
Won Oscar for brilliant Goodbye,
In Jaws younger, resilient guy.
Narrowly escaped great white at sea,
Narrator in King's dark Stand By Me,
In Stakeout sleuth-ed with Esteves,
Nuts lawyer proved who Streisand is.
Gained acclaim as Mister Holland,
Aptly named Doctor Leo Marvin.
Cast as Quad in Clark's Whose Life,
Tin Men mocked "Balmur" life.
Offered London Producer's fame,
Replaced as Max by Nathan Lane.

BD Boulevard

There's place on the edge of town,
Where spirits often gather.
They appear when no ones around,
To share and drink together.
Entities of personalities,
Hollywood's hallowed names.
Eternity's celebrities,
Heaven's walk of fame.
They fantasize and reminisce,
About good times and the bad.
They drink to lives they all miss,
Drown sorrows each one's had.
The bar is lined with Father Time's,
Ghosts of darkened screens.
They raise their glasses synchronized,
Toast fan hearkened scenes.
If one happens to catch a glimpse,
For one fleeting split second.
In the blink of eye they dispense,
Into wisps of plasmic essence.
Outside bright lights and neon signs,
Cast shadows and hope-filled beams.
While honored stars seek encores,
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

A Special Guest For Dinner

I stopped on my way home from work,
To pick up a few extra things.
A bottle of wine, some tall red candles,
A dessert and vanilla ice cream.
I'm having a guest for Dinner,
And I want everything just right.
I don't want to appear like a beginner,
On this one very special night.

I have the main course cooking,
It simply smells delicious.
The lights are dim, the air is fresh,
I've set out my best china dishes.
He'll be here any minute,
Let me check just one more time.
Maybe a little more garlic in it,
The stew I've made tastes just fine.

I go over to the refrigerator,
And open the freezer door.
It's full of bags of severed meat,
All frozen to the core.
In the center two eyes just stare,
Through a zip locked Glad freezer bag.
They're both looking straight at me,
Surprised and somewhat sad.

I grab some ice, adjust what's there,
Lady fingers, giblets and feet.
I take a quick mental inventory,
Of all the tidbits I still have to eat.
Stuff to make liver with onions,
Fresh soups and kidney stew.
Enough to feed me and my guests,
For another week or two.

I'm really looking forward,
To this evenings special guest.
We met at a bar the weekend before,
He just stood out from all the rest.
He's well traveled and debonair,
A doctor of some sort it seems.
He has a refined elegant air,
And a taste for fava beans.

I hope I don't seem too presumptuous,
Remain calm and self-contained.
I found him to be quite scrumptious.
I would love to pick his brain.
I'm wreathing with anticipation,
Perspiring just a bit.
I have a renewed appreciation,
For how nervous some people get.

Relax, take a breath, it's almost time,
The table's all been set.
Cleaver, pairing and carving knives,
Are as sharp as they can get.
Sterling silver dinnerware,
And a bottle of Chianti wine,
A touch of elegant savior faire,
And some chloroform's just fine.

A car, he's here, another breath,
A quick look in the mirror.
I see myself and I see death,
And embrace it's debt and horror.
The door bell rings, I'm feeling calmer,
The fun's about to begin.
I open the door, hear hello Mr. Dahmer,
Doctor Lechter, won't you please come in.

Whatchu Mean Willis?

This is an acrostic...

West German born, New Jersey bred,
Actor, moonlighting musician it's said.
Learned baby talk with Kirsty and John,
Took world by storm with his first die hard-on.
Ever the comic with Bonfire friends,
Revered and iconic in Armageddon.

Twelve monkey's fifth element brought sci-fi calls,
Hudson Hawk's relevance helped remake Jackal.
Electrified audiences in Quentin's Pulp Fiction,

Off-screen wife Demi was public addiction.
Tarrentino teamed him with Travolta and Jackson,
His audiences screamed at his sixth sense reaction.
Even his voice can be over the hedge,
Rendered unbreakable, kept Elijah on edge.

Blues recording artist of little known fame,
Return of Bruno was his initial album's name.
Ultimate P.O.W. in Hart's Wartime prison,
Cartoon-like P.O. in Miller's city of sin.
Every-man's man, whose fans want him to win.

They're Only The Piano Players

Someone saved his life one nighT

Rocketed charts with a Man that would bE
Eventually saw Daniel in a plane wavinG,
Levon brought madmen across water toO,
Taught the world what a crocodile could dO.
One of his songs was of the Your kinD,
Never believed dancers too tiny or weaK.
His captain fantastic was no EinsteiN,
Electrified Bennie and freed 'ole PhilI.
Remembered Marilyn and Diana in sonG,
Circle of life made the whole world sigH.
Ushered bitch back, gave censor's a taunT,
Lucidly found diamonds made Lucy much higheR.
Earned critical acclaim for Lion songs sireD,
Said adieu to brick road we all kneW,
Joined hall's few, wore an island girl's leI.
Orchestrated pinball song that he sanG,
Hated sundowns and sad songs so mucH.
Nikita, not Aida, was another Bernie cuT.

Bronx big shot to his Levittown creW,
It's still rock 'n roll to him, you and I.
Got fires started without any fueL,
Allentown's factories are still on triaL.
Pressure's paranoia was Captain Jack's alibI,
Played Leningrad to ease cold war hysteriA.
Listed Movin' Out as his Broadway symposiuM,
Entertainer extraordinaire when at venue or stadiuM.
Stranger struck a flare of colloquial euphoriA,
Piano man rare with an innocent man-terioR.
Induced a lust for the Italian restauranT,
A matter of trust for great wine and spaghettI.
New York state of mind's where his music begaN,
On tour these days with UK's Elton J.

The Fourth Mr. Mapother

This is an acrostic...

Had Renee when he first said hello,
Endlessly loved his first picture show.
Fourth of July earned little fan fare,
Eyes weren't shut when Nicole was there.
Lost that loving feeling most nights,
Top of his class in F-fighter flights.
Thundered 'round tracks, earned racing stripes,
Had fun as Joel Goodson in his tighty whites.
Earned respect as Rain Man's brother,
Needed right moves to impress others.
Early Taps showed temper and dark sides,
Empties were juggled in Cocktail bar sites.
Did impossible missions both far and away,
Few good men proved more than a play.
Ordered Jessup from Guantanomo Bay,
Revisited War of Worlds as Ray.
Spent many a night under Vanilla Skies,
Played a civil war hero turned Samurai.
Enticed new wife Katie, passed another Cruz by.
Even Cuba and Newman sought his dollar side,
Did movie that featured the Bob Seger slide.

aka Richard Bachman

Maine's most prolific author,
Yet nearly missed his call.
Self-made though almost a pauper,
Tabitha liked in him what she saw.
Early on wrote Nightshift short stories,
Reaped fame with Carrie's first prom.
Years of struggle and mental frustration,

Augmented tales of where It came from.
Never took a Shining to Colorado,
Despite Jerusalem's published success.

Had to Stand on his New England bravado,
Or Stand By the lifestyle he knew best.
Raked in his fortune by forty.
Richard Bachman became a pen name.
Oh how Christine and Cujo adorned him,
Resurrection was Pet Sematary's claim.

Walking on Route 5 in Lovell,
Recklessly rendered him semi-lame.
In Misery he found it a foreshadow,
The Green Mile was where several thoughts came.
Earned raves with Shawshank's clear redemption,
Reveled in Claiborne's acclaimed fame.

Another Rock 'n Roll Heaven

As kids today listen to their mp3's,
As disc jockey's roll back time.
Ipod's are packed full of memories.
Old Time Rock 'n Rollers past their prime.

Reunions seem shadows of what fans long for,
Cover Bands now dilute concert streams.
Many a passed favorite no longer tour,
They're found only in recordings and dreams.

Consider these greats for instance:

Jagger, Richards, Wyman and Watts,
Got Satisfaction as The Rolling Stones.
Under the thumbs of mother helpers and clouds,
Woods was in the shadows after the death of Brian Jones.

An unknown soldier who often got lit,
Broke through other sides and road in soft parade storms.
Found people strange, loved LA women madly,
When the music's over, in the end, Jim Morrison was the Doors.

Dazed and confused, they sang of immigrants and Kashmir,
Found a whole lot of lovin', good times and fame.
Rambled on broken levees, gallows and battles evermore,
Bonham took heaven's stairway, Zeppelin's songs were never the same.

They sang of a generation,
There's no question who they were,
Daltry and Townsend were their inspiration,
Keith Moon personified their words.

They electrified the scene with High Voltage,
Like an explosion of TNT,
ACDC paved their own Highway to Hell,
Bon Scott's voice was quite unique.

A band that defined the Southern Rock genre,
Lynyrd Skynyrd always had One for the Road.
He lived his life like a Free Bird,
Ron Van Zant called Alabama his sweet home.

Bands don't get much bigger than the Beatles,
They practically defined British Rock on their own.
John Lennon wrote of peace and mind games,
Imagined a world where we all live as one.

They each found success working solo,
Paul found love with a new Band on the Run,
Wings brought McCartney to new hi hi hi,
If only Linda not died so soon.

Now George seemed to come with the sun,
There was something in the way he gave.
His guitar never weeped, he found the Lord sweet,
As a Harrison, all things passed his way.

The South lost a pioneer and rambler,
A blues legend in talent and name.
Duane Allman was a true midnight rider,
Melissa and Jessica brought him posthumous fame.

He had a certain kind of magic,
One sure to give Queens a sheer heart attack.
His Rhapsody was poignantly tragic,
Freddie Mercury was a Champion that gave back.

The orchestral pit that now plays in the stars,
Seats musicians once the rock world's rage,
They filled stadiums and arenas, clubs and small bars,
In music annals you'll find their legacies on each page.

They now live in vinyl, cd and ipod heaven,
Legends of a once classical age.
When cigarette lighters and cell phone lights beckon,
These rockers will no longer take the stage.

Undeniable

Legendary character actor,

Idled by fans of the screen,

Faces that're undeniable,

Endearment's one he's sane,

A few good wins at the Oscars,

Napier joked "Get a load of me"

Departed from an asylum,

To take loonies sightseeing,

Ironically catatonic,

Melvin suffered from OCD.

Easy rides with Fonda and Hopper,

Shiningly quipped "Here's Johnny!"

Once flew behind the cameras,

Famed basketball cuckoo scene,

Nathan Jessup of Guantanamo Cuba,

Ignored the truth it seems.

Chased a kid in a blinding snowstorm,

Halted by a deep blizzard freeze,

Ordered code reds after getting warned,

Laughed mad and sinisterly.

Schmidt was warm and fatherly,

Often seen smiling at Laker games,

Notable presence at hollywood flings.

Roswell, New Mexico, 1962

Do you hear me Ms. Harmon?
Explain how Guynes is your real name.
May we assume, that you're consumed,
In some kind of conspiracy game?
My research interestingly uncovered,
Ostensible theatric, dramatic flair.
Our general hospital has discovered,
Remains found once in Vanity Fair.
Enigmatic seven signs,
Bruce never sensed you were there,
Object of indecent designs,
Respected but once stripped bare.
Name a few good men might envy,
Involved in St. Elmo Fire affair,
National E.T. remains mystery,
Notable G.I. Jane style hair.
Opposed Swayze's ghostly mystique?
Vocalized Hunchback's Esmerelda,
Equipped with a mind and firm physique.
Mobilized Brat Pack with maleficent aura.
Been an Angel, whore, effeminate unique.
Emanant seductress and Butcher's Wife.
Remnants preeminent in Kutcher's life.

A Popeye Poem

Soft spoken sailor man
Timid bald spinach fan.
Rarely the loser of a fight.
Often seen with a can,
Non-typical muscle man,
Guardian of all good and right.
The father of Sweet Pea,
Oliveoil's sweetie,
The source of his Pappy's delight.
Hero of children
Even bow-legged women,
Forever foe Bluto's worst sight.
Impressive large forearms,
Not one who bore arms,
Icon of early TV.
Smokes corn cob pipes, wears hats of white,
Helps Wimpy with his hamburger needs.
