Good Ole Glory
This is an acrostic.
She waves majestically, for freedom's sake,
Takes assorted abuse in tempered wake,
Airs her proud visage, arm draped with care,
Revels the visions our forefathers shared.
Sails upon ships to moons and far lands,
Plays with sports' casts and field marching bands.
Attends the gatherings of worldly events,
Nurtures psalm occasions with symbolic respect.
Grand is her stature in many old songs,
Lovingly displayed amid fourth gathered throngs.
Elevated religiously in dawn's early light,
Drawn half high to honor those that have died.
Billowy striped scarlet caress white wavy lines,
Alabaster stars on blue states its time.
Never unable to share solemn regrets,
Tearfully embrace-ful of war fallen vets.
Eternally grateful to those sacrificed and saved.
Ramparts she's graced and the tombs of the brave.
