21st Century Knight

He rides out every morning,

No later than half past five,

Aboard his silver companion,

Confidence by his side.

His mount is shelled in armour,

Of fiber glass and steel,

He's poised to defend the honor,

Of most anyone he feels.

He'll fight his little battles,

With the sharpened tools he wields.

He prods his vessel forward,

With a slight press and turn of the wheel.

He's searching for adventure,

Someone to challenge his zest.

As he hits the roadway,

Going 30 miles at best.

He takes the local byway,

Usually headed west.

He'll ride the road for hours,

To reach his ultimate quest.

He'll spend a day in a tower,

Of glass and cubicled desks.

And at the days conclusion,

He takes the opposite journey, no less.

Another several hours,

Riding his steed alone.

As he turns the final corner,

And sees where he's come from.

Thoughts of the day consume him,

What true battles were fought and won?
